What’s New in AstroGuide 1.3.4 and 1.3.5
New planning tools, workflow improvements, and fixes in the latest AstroGuide releases.
AstroGuide 1.3.4 and 1.3.5 are two of the biggest planning-focused updates so far. Together, they expand Capture Studio, add deeper schedule optimization, improve site and dark-sky planning, and make everyday use faster, clearer, and more reliable.
The theme of these releases is simple: help you better understand what kind of night you have, what targets fit it, and how to make the best use of your observing time.
AstroGuide 1.3.4
Version 1.3.4 introduced major new planning tools for framing, equipment, sub-exposure guidance, and integration planning.
Capture Studio 2.0
Capture Studio has been redesigned around dedicated planning modules for framing, filter evaluation, sub-length guidance, and integration planning.
You can now evaluate a target more completely before observing: how it fits your equipment, which filters make sense, what sub-length is recommended, and how much total integration time may be needed.
Telescope Workshop
Telescope Workshop lets you assemble custom astrophotography rigs from a large catalog of optics, cameras, and related equipment.
You can compare rigs, understand field of view and sampling, preview framing, and see how your setup affects planning recommendations throughout AstroGuide.
Better Sky Atlas and Framing Tools
Search, Explore, and Sky Atlas gained stronger framing support, including field-of-view overlays and orientation-aware views.
This makes it easier to understand how a subject fits your actual telescope, camera, and mount configuration.
Schedule Path Preview
Schedule editing now includes an interactive path preview with altitude, lunar separation, moon-adjusted sky brightness, and sub-length context.
This helps you choose better start and end times before committing a target to the night’s plan.
AstroGuide 1.3.5
Version 1.3.5 builds on 1.3.4 with smarter scheduling, dark-sky site support, ASIAIR import/export, improved sync/restore behavior, and a broad round of polish and performance work.
Timing Advisor
Timing Advisor is a new option in the Schedule menu that helps optimize the order and timing of the subjects in your plan.
It considers visibility, obstructions, altitude, sky brightness, lunar impact, target priority, and available observing time, then proposes a better schedule you can review before applying.
Dark Sky Site Support
The Sites tab now includes Dark Sky locations from around the world. You can find nearby dark sites, compare them to your current site, get directions, and review sky brightness information.
AstroGuide can also help identify dark sites that make sense for specific subjects.
Schedule Management and ASIAIR Support
Schedules are easier to manage, preview, export, and import.
AstroGuide now includes schedule management tools for bulk actions and supports ASIAIR clipboard-based import/export workflows.
Smarter Recommendations
Observation Window recommendations now include active goals, so AstroGuide can surface targets you already care about instead of only showing general seasonal picks.
Capture Studio also gives better per-panel guidance for sub-length and exposure planning.
Fixes, Polish, and Performance
This release includes many smaller improvements throughout the app:
- Fixed date labels when astronomical dark starts after midnight
- Improved iCloud Sync status reporting
- Improved new-device restore behavior
- Improved panorama behavior and horizon-line adjustment
- Improved text wrapping and copy behavior across several screens
- Improved app launch, Tonight, Search, and Cloud Sync performance
- Improved Search debounce behavior and reduced unnecessary background work
- Moved comet catalog data toward dynamic updates without requiring a full app update
- Graduated several experimental features into the main app
